Interview Guide

Everything you need to know about interviewing at SafetyWing.

What to expect

Before you apply

We encourage you to be thoughtful about the roles you apply for, taking the time to only apply to positions that genuinely interest you and align with your skills.

Once you’ve found a role that genuinely excites you, take the time to answer the application questions thoughtfully. These questions, including the personal summary, play an important role in how we review applications and help us understand who you are beyond your resume, how you think, what motivates you, and what draws you to our mission. This is where your application really comes to life.

We value AI as a tool to help refine language or make work more efficient. That said, we’re most interested in your perspective, judgment, and voice, so submissions should reflect your own ideas, experiences and reasoning.

After you apply

You can typically expect to hear from us within one to two weeks of applying. We review applications carefully and receive a high volume, so some roles may take a little longer. If there are delays, we’ll do our best to let you know.

Whether or not you move forward, you’ll always hear back from us.

Our hiring process

We’re dedicated to finding the right match, for the role and for our team. Most roles involve five to six stages, including conversations with the recruiting team, hiring manager, team members, and founders, along with a chance to showcase your skills in practice.

Once you’re in the interview process, you can generally expect about one interview per week with the full process taking 6-8 weeks depending on the role. We aim to move candidates through each stage in parallel to reduce waiting time, and usually invite a small group of finalists into the final round before making our decision.

How to show up

Be authentic. Our interviews are conversation-based, and there’s no special preparation required. We’re interested in how you think, your experience, what excites you, and how you connect with our mission.

Come ready to be curious, ask thoughtful questions, and join from a quiet, comfortable space where you can focus.

Staying in the loop

After an interview, we usually share an update within 3 to 5 days. If things take longer, you’re always welcome to follow up but we’ll do our best to keep you informed if timelines shift.

Interview Tips

Think of interviews with us as a two-way conversation to get to know each other and explore mutual fit. We’re interested in how you think, what you’re excited to build, and why our mission resonates with you, not just your past titles or experience.
  1. Mission and values alignment
We care about why our mission and values resonate with you and how they connect to the kind of work you’re excited to do.

  2. Be authentic
We value authenticity. We’re not looking for rehearsed answers or polished personas. We’re interested in how you think, communicate, and reflect on your experiences.

  3. Simpler is better
Clear, well-formed responses matter more to us than having the “perfect” answer. Take a moment to think, answer the question being asked, and explain your reasoning.

  4. Create, don’t copy
We value original thinking and the ability to form your own perspective. Whether it’s how you approach problems or challenge assumptions, we’re interested in how you arrive at ideas beyond the expected.

  5. Ask good questions
We always appreciate good questions. Take advantage of the question time to learn more about the role, the team, and how we work.
